A clinical exercise specialist who is passionate about improving lives through the application of sound exercise science. I have an undergraduate degree in human movement science in addition to a post graduate degree in Biokinetics. I have multiple years of experience coaching and treating many individuals with requirements from the management of chronic disease to orthopedic rehabilitation to general health and wellness as well as high performance sports conditioning.

What is Biokinetics
As described by the Biokinetics Association of South Africa (BASA) whose motto is “Life Through Movement”, the term biokinetics is defined as “the science of movement and the application of exercise in rehabilitative treatment or performance.”

To qualify as a Biokineticist, one must have an undergraduate degree in either Sport Science or Human Movement Science with a post graduate degree in Biokinetics. This requires a minimum of 4 years of study in addition to a 1 year internship with a practice that is recognised and accredited with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa.
A Biokineticist is a clinical exercise specialist that has several roles within the health care sector. Their job involves the promotion of general health and wellness through comprehensive testing and screening. This is used to identify any relevant health risk factors that may be present in addition to educating patients on the importance of these risk factors, encouraging healthy lifestyle habits and implementing strategies to improve these risk factors.

Prescription of therapeutic exercise to improve range of motion, stability, strength, functional capacity & to reduce pain associated with injury. Rehabilitation is provided for both pre & post operative patients in the general population as well as the athlete.
