Professional Associations

Luke Saner is a registered Biokineticist with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa (HPCSA – http://www.hpcsa.co.za/) BK 0026247 under the board of Physical Therapy, Podiatry and Biokinetics. This means that all modes of treatment and practise are bound by legislation laid out in the constitution of South Africa under the Health Professions Act, 56 of 1974, among others (http://www.hpcsa.co.za/Legislation) and is subject to the HPCSA guidelines for good practise and medical ethics (http://www.hpcsa.co.za/Conduct/Ethics).

Essentially this means that the profession of Biokinetics and the manner in which they conduct business and interact with patients and clients is very strictly regulated by the law. This is purely for the protection of the patient and ensures that they get evidence based treatment which is founded within the greater body of science and medical field. This is good news for the consumer as they can gain peace of mind knowing that their wellbeing is of the best interest to the practitioner. Many other professionals such as personal trainers, acupuncture therapists, myofascial release therapists, reiki practitioners and kinesiologists etc. are not HPCSA registered and therefore are not regulated in terms of the law with regards to best practise and medical ethics. This often leads an already vulnerable individual into a situation where money is spent on services rendered which may not be in the best interest of the consumer.

Luke is also registered with the Board of Health Funders under the practice number 091 000 0688746.

This means that part of the cost for services rendered can be claimed back from an individual’s medical aid scheme, provided that the specific scheme and policy accommodates the services of Biokinetics. Please note that Luke Saner Biokinetics will not be responsible for any medical aid submissions. Once services have been rendered, an invoice will be issued with the appropriate medical coding. The account will then need to be paid and a receipt issued before the patient can claim back from their respective scheme. The patient themselves will then be responsible for the submission.

Cancellations for Biokinetics services

We understand that sometimes life gets busy, things come up and we can’t always anticipate life’s many curve balls. For this reason, we have a 24 hour cancellation policy. This means that if more than 24 hours’ notice is given to cancel an appointment, that appointment will not be charged for. Anything less than 24 hours is subject to the full rate related to that service.
